What's Become of Our Nation?

Last night I sat and watched the Health Care Bill get passed. I'll admit, I got a little misty-eyed. And I'll admit that it weighed on me most of the day yesterday. I was worried. I was heavy-hearted.

But as I sat and watched these elected officials -- most of whom are desperately out of touch with the REAL people -- make their speeches on the BEHALF of the American PEOPLE, I was a bundle of nerves.

But right before the House voted, a peace washed over me. And I reminded myself for the 1000th time that day that HE is in control.

And this Scripture began going thru my head.

Psalm 121:1-8
"I will lift up my eyes to the hills -- where does my help come from? MY HELP COMES FROM THE LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip -- he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord watches over you -- the Lord is your shade at your right hand: the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all harm -- he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore."

Years ago I learned that passage in the King James Version, not a version I normally like. But I do think it says it so eloquently: "I will lift up mine eyes to the hills from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord...ALL OF MY HELP cometh from the Lord."

(Emphasis mine in both translations.)

So often as Conservatives we're told not to voice our opinion. We're often not given the chance to voice our opinions. And so while my sweet little blog is nothing political, I have no problems standing up and saying that I'm horribly disappointed in our nation.

But I'm more disappointed in a nation founded on our Father's principles who has repeatedly turned her back on Him for over 200 years. BUT I can pray. I can ask the Lord not to forget those in this great nation who love Him, who worship Him, who serve Him.

I'm saddened by yesterday's events. Saddened, knowing full-well that this will be a turning point in our nation. But we can pray it will be a turning point TO HIM, and not further away.

And I can pray, "God, please bless America."
