Last night ONE of our church BUILDINGS burned down.
I say ONE b/c the front building held the church offices, the youth area, and an old sanctuary from the previous church which we used for baptisms only. Our main worship building was untouched. Untouched.
I say BUILDINGS in all caps b/c the church is the people. Our building is just that. A building.
It is scary. It is sad.
But we are praising the Lord. No one was harmed. None of the surrounding homes were even touched. Thank you, Lord. Even the huge oak tree -- and I mean HUGE! -- that separates the two buildings was unharmed. (Side note: I love that tree. I always want to run underneath it and have a picnic.)
