not good, but it's a reason

if you get the nod to White Christmas by my title above then you and i are truly kindred spirits.  {and if you just got the nod to Anne of Green Gables with that last part then i heart you.  big time.}

yes, it happened again.  i've been totally MIA from the ole blog.  here's the thing:  it's cold outside.  i hate cold weather.  but it does make me want to make a lot of soup.  and chili.  and curl up with a good book.

or in this case, my kindle app.

even before the first nip in the air i bought several books for my kindle....and i've read them all.  and once i start reading i find every spare 2 minutes to escape into the wonderful world of fiction....most often historical fiction.

if you've seen me sitting at panera on tuesday and thursday afternoons hunched over a greek salad and baguette staring at my phone....well, now you know why.  {sorry i didn't wave.}

so here's what i've been reading lately.  i wouldn't necessarily recommend all of these books, but here we go.

{by the way, i like my books like i like my movies: sweet, wholesome, and a good love story. these are total pleasure reads. so you've been warned.}

normally Cathy Marie Hake is one of my favorite authors, but this isn't one of her best efforts.  i liked it.  i thought it was a fun read, but her others are better.

i had never read this author.  can't even remember how i came upon this book, but i read it nonetheless.  it was....ok.  a little darker, a little predictable, a little more of a "dealing with past ghosts" story than a true love story.  not sure i'd recommend it.

Gist is a wonderful writer.  i've read all of her books.  she's known as being a bit more "steamy" than other christian fiction writers.  i don't think that's a completely fair assessment...but anyway, this book wasn't as "steamy" as her other books.

i had read one other book by this author and enjoyed it.  so i bought her 2 other books.  (she's new.)  i really liked this one and thought it was such a good depiction of how we judge others.
 really liked this other one by Witemeyer.  nail biter.  good read.  i just finished it a couple of days ago.  couldn't put it down.

that's it.  i read a couple of others, but one i'm not ready to recommend yet.  i might blog about that later.

i'm taking a reading break until after christmas.  i don't get anything else done!

reading anything good?  have a favorite author?

  1. Got the references...both of 'em!

    Thanks for the book references. I need some new stuff to read when I finish up the book about the woman who escaped polygamy! G says I'm obsessed with polygamy! :) just interested!

    Don't forget my non-reference to the book about the "MasterMidg"! Did you get my code?
