hers has a big girl bed now

my baby girl is growing up.  and i don't think i like it.

she's about to celebrate her 3rd Christmas.

it doesn't even seem possible.

(by the way, i just realized she's wearing the same outfit in those first 2 pictures.  hilarious.  that was not planned.  i was just looking for december pics over the years.  what can i say, i get a lot of mileage outta cute clothing pieces.  *grin*)

the other day we moved our sweet little lady out of her crib.  ::sniff::  ::sniff::

this was a hard decision.  she loved her bed.  and i loved her bedding.  but we were having some restless nights.  and she's 2 1/2.  it was time.

the crib went into the attic.  {i need a kleenex.}  my crib has been in use since 2004.  for 7 1/2 years the crib has been blessed with a little one.  and now it's in my cold attic.  {i need a box of kleenex.}

seriously, i need to get a grip.

doh doh's big girl bed was actually her daddy's long ago.  it was also bubba's and then bruiser's first bed.  i had planned on making her a pallet bed, ripping the idea off ashley.  but we wanted to use the full mattresses we already had.  i wasn't sure what a pallet bed would look like that big......

so we went with what we had.  my plan was to paint it red.  but i decided to try it in black first.

here's my dilemma:
i can't find a good place to put it.  *sigh*  i like walking in & seeing the chest (which is also a family piece).

pardon the picture quality...i've been playing around with my new camera!!  obviously, i can't quite get the hang of it.

i don't have bedding yet (wanted to make sure we liked the bed first).  i plan on having a patchwork quilt made.  but right now i have a too-small patchwork my great grandmother made out of scraps from her aprons and my great grandad's and my grandad's shirts.  awesome.

i've tried several different places, but i want floor space for her to play.  but making this bed up against the wall is a big. fat. pain.

i wanted the bed angled coming out from the corner, like her crib was.  but the bed is way too big for that.  so i just don't know.  maybe once i have some awesome bedding i won't mind moving the chest of drawers to the corner.

decisions, decisions......

well, it's friday.  back to laundry.  and icing my face.  32 hours til party time.  i hope my ice maker is up to the task.

now, anyone wanna make me a patchwork quilt????
