one {great} weekend

y'all, we had such a nice weekend.

well, le's exclude the skating party i was forced to take took the boys to on saturday.  it was a gorgeous afternoon.  GORGEOUS.  i was stuck inside a steamy hot, super 80s dated, journey-playing (sorry, journey fans), 40 year-old skates pushing skating rink who apparently forgot this is ARKANSAS and Fall hasn't really arrived yet so we still need the AC.  kicked up.  {sigh}

did i mention it was gorgeous outside?  do i sound bitter?  should i move on?

but after making our get-away leaving the party we came home to.....

caRvE puMpKinS!!!!!!!!!

bubba's punkin' was so easy to do.  bruiser's....ahem....was like trying to cut thru a brick.

mental note:  next year, thump or knock on the punkin' before buying.  if it sounds hard or makes a hollow sound...MOVE ON.

the picture above makes it look like dad did all the work.  i'm nice like that.  *grin*

so even though we were tired of carving and the kids had long moved on to rolling dumptrucks down the slide, we finished 2 punkins.

and i think they're cute.

and they bring a certain je ne sais quoi to the front porch.

have you carved punkins yet?  does it annoy you that i keep typing punkins?  instead of puMPkins?

happy monday, y'all!  i'm going outside.  it's just too pretty.  all that other stuff'll still be there, right?

  1. We always carve our pumpkins the week before Halloween and then have a Pumpkin Smashing Party (family tradition) on November 1st!
