(i bet you are all singing the annie lennox song now, aren't you?!?! oh you love me. you know it.}
yesterday was a rough day.
it started off as a great day. i met friends for lunch, the kids played in the play area {some} and we ran our mouths. awesome.
unfortunately this little lady didn't feel so hot.
she had a dr's appointment that afternoon. i stayed too long at lunch, which meant we had to rush around to make it there on time.
i picked up bruiser from school to take him as well. he's been complaining of a tender spot on the side of his head. {i ignored it...b/c remember....my slogan is SUCK IT UP.} but he flinched again at the barber....so picture me the night before bawling my eyes out b/c my baby had a tumor, or head trauma, or something catastrophic.
also picture me cradling my 5 y/o, my fat butt almost falling off his mattress, all while he happily snored in my arms. yes, i'm crazy. i've come to terms with it.
while checking out bruiser at school i asked for them to inform bubba that his brother had gotten picked up early and that he was getting picked up by my mom. {reread that sentence. it will be crucial information later.}
we rushed to the dr. both kids are fine. doh doh has a cold. bruiser's mysterious pain didn't show up to the appt....not even when our dr put his hands on bruiser's head and pushed...hard. i'm thankful. {i'm also thankful for health insurance.}
as we drove home i got a text from my mom.
she can't find bubba.
he was nowhere to be found. she's assuming he went home with our neighbors. but i knew better...but EVERYONE is also assuming he went home with our friends.
i wasn't panicked....but i confirmed he wasn't with our friends. so at this point i'm yelling into the phone....LISTEN TO ME, HIS MOTHER! HE. DID. NOT. GO. WITH. THEM!!!!!!!!!!!
i'll fast forward....b/c it's a long story......but when he didn't immediately see nana, and couldn't find his brother, he went to a very dear family friend. they went to her car to call. but was so upset he couldn't remember anyone's numbers.
hours later i found out she had actually driven him HOME! have mercy. but she brought him back, found my mom frantic in the parking lot, and delivered my sweet cherub to her.
all in all it was only about 15 minutes, but a very long 15 minutes. {sigh}
once in my arms he bawled his sparkly big brown eyes out.
moving on to the broken glass.....the day before i had promised him a books a million trip b/c of straight A's {yippee!} so we loaded up the car: a sick little lady, a formerly lost son, and one completely oblivious to everything around him son.
and then my friend called to find out what all had happened. i should never talk & back out of my garage at the same time.
anyone know a good body shop?
it was a long day. but all worth it when you see what my fella picked out at the bookstore. not really a chapter book, like he was originally looking for, but something so much better.
the ultimate chapter book....his very first "big boy" Bible. he picked it all out himself. {there are no pictures. cuteness.} he's making his way thru genesis. love this kid.
even when he doesn't obey after school orders.
