our comedy of error costumes

last year i made Doh Doh's costume.  we had a toy story themed halloween.

this year, well i totally dropped the ball.  at first i had 2 fellas who were totally NOT interested in dressing up for halloween.

i must also tell you that Bruiser eventually admitted his reason for not wanting to dress up for their school costume parade.  IT INVOLVED A GIRL.

some cheeky little first grader who chases him on the playground.  all i could think of was Mr. Darcy's line, "i cannot express to you the depths of Georgiana's despair."

i may have cried.  i may have thrown myself on him screaming not to leave me.  or i may have looked at him affectionately, grinned that he confessed such a secret to me, and moved on.  that last one sounds more mature, so let's go with that one.

this year i bought Doh Doh's costume at Target (for half price!!!) before the Halloween costumes were out.  i just bought it for her to dress up in.  did i mention it was half price?  only 9 smackers.  booyah!

she's a fairy.  one of tinkerbell's friends.  we were later told the fairy's name is Silvermist.  yeah, like we cared.  whenever people asked, she informed them she was a butterfly.  i was good with that.  everyday she wanted to be something different.  so when she settled on this, i was ok with it.

although everybody gave me grief over her striped tights and boots.  i was ok with that too.

the boys decided they wanted to be lego men.  only they decided just days before our fall festival at church.  {sigh}  i went to lowe's, looked around for anything i could use to make a lego man head.

i thought it turned out cute.  Bruiser wore his costume to the fall festival.  but never again.  he informed me he thought the kids would make fun of him for wearing a cardboard box.  wha!?!?!?!?!  i have a kid who cares what others think?!?!?  i just don't know about that kid sometimes.

i finally convinced him to go to school as a football player.  i'm the homeroom mom.  he had to participate!  so we went to borrow my nephew's pads.  adorable, right?!?

he wouldn't wear that either.  {sigh}  right before the costume parade at school i grabbed the stickers, which he would only wear at school.

my sweet Bubba rocked the lego man costume at school.  all i could do was shake my head  and wish i'd had more time to construct it.

after school he discovered his brother's facial stickers.  and the mouthpiece i bought but Bruiser wouldn't wear.  his lego man costume was quickly forgotten for trick or treating that night.

thank you, Tim Tebow.
