a review: just my opinion

pInterest

everyone loves it.  it's an addiction.  and i'm sure there are therapy groups popping up all over the world just to deal with the insanity that is pinterest.

here's what's funny to me about our beloved pinterest:  people who never ventured out into the online world are addicted to pinterest.

only problem is, lots of those people think anything pinned on pinterest is the gospel.  i find people confessing they are shocked when a pinner says a recipe is the "best ever" cheesecake.  or some household tip will be "life changing."  but then those don't measure up.

shocking, oui?

moving on.......i'm giving you a review of a pinterest find.

free of charge.  {wink}

seen this picture on pinterest before?  homemade laundry detergent.  sounds fantastic, no?  i've made some before, used others people have given me............and i've searched for that perfect home recipe.

this ain't it.

you can find the recipe here.

allow me to sum it up for you:
DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME.

apparently the blogger doesn't have messy kids.  or boys.  she claims to use 1-2 tablespoons per load.  ahem.

it worked okay on basically clean clothes, nothing even mildly soiled.  i tried it on a load of jeans....um, they came out smelling exactly like they did BEFORE washing them.

here's what sealed the deal:  one of my favorite doh doh shirts got soiled with....i don't even know what.  something red.  jello?  yogurt?  no clue.

the shirt went thru the wash, dryer, and then i discovered it.  assuming it was ruined, she wore it to play in the mud.  i washed it again in my regular detergent...and voila!  no more stains.

unbelievable.  all i did was wash it in my normal CHEER.

yee-to-the-haw.

bottom line:  this detergent sucks.  i wa$ted money on it.  now you don't have to.  i made this in february.  i've used it off & on since then.  after doh doh's shirt....well, i'm done.

the only thing good about it???  grating the fels naptha made my house smell awesome...

the other plus?  doh doh unloaded the entire dishwasher while i mixed this stuff up.

maybe it was worth it after all..................

so here's my laundry tip:  i use CHEER liquid.  and i use less than the suggested amount.  the formula is concentrated.  i use 1/2-3/4 than the amount recommended.  and my clothes come out CLEAN.  i also use fragrance free so i'm not getting any yucky fragrances.
