the cardiac unit to be exact.
he's fine now. (thanks for asking. ;)
and so, even though i know he'll probably kill me for this, here's the scoop.
i've been working out with a personal trainer. {if you've seen me limping around town, that's why. and i may or may not have sent a few not-so-ladylike texts to my trainer. who, for some insane reason, gets her jollies out of them. and proceeds to train me even harder.}
my man set up an appointment for a "refresher course" with my trainer. that morning we were on the phone. our conversation went something like this:
him: i'm probably gonna bring home a gyro for dinner. don't make anything. i'm only having an apple for lunch.
me: um, hon, you're working out with kristy today. you need something more than an apple.
{this is soooooo him. he does this often. doesn't eat or drink all day....pigs out at night. and never gains a freakin' pound.
him: i'll be fine. i might eat some crackers too.
me: no, you need to eat more than that. {this went on awhile.}
him: i'll. be. FINE.
me: fine. but if you pass out on the bathroom floor, i'm NOT coming to get you.
i had to eat my words.
(he did this about 14 years ago before we got married. i found him hugging the pot in the men's locker room, no clue where he was, how he got there, etc.)
at 2:26 p.m. my phone rang. it was kristy, my trainer. when her name popped up on my screen, i just knew.
she told me not to be alarmed, but i needed to come fast. they found my man passed out on the bathroom floor. he was completely out of it, didn't know much of anything, and his nose was possibly broken.
i'll cut to the chase: 7 hours in the ER, stitches, broken nose, concussion, high white blood cell count, one night stay in the cardiac unit. {turns out he was severely dehydrated.}
i may or may not be waiting until he's completely well to break out my I TOLD YOU SO dance.
the scene at the gym was not fun for me. the scene on the way to the hospital wasn't pretty either.
i'm thankful for awesome friends and family. i'm thankful my man's ok {despite his bruised ego!}.
and i'm thankful that in my car i always keep wet wipes, chapstick, and hand sanitizer.
you just never know when that stuff's gonna come in handy.
oh, and a cell phone. ;)
