it's no secret: i love tennis.
no, i don't play every day. honestly, i wish i could. but i have this little thing called a life. with 3 kids. and a husband. but the more i play, the more i want to play.
i have a friend who plays every day with her 2 kids. and a few days a week her husband even joins them. amazing.
if you're a tennis fan, you know that the French Open is drawing to a close. today's men's semi-finals with djokovic vs. nadal was a disappointment to me. (i'll spare you the details just in case you haven't seen it yet! let's be honest, most of you don't care. i'm surprised you're still reading.)
i enjoy watching the French Open. i've never played on a clay court before, although our athletic club has one. i'm slightly intimidated, but plan to get over that real soon.
Wimbledon is next. i love wimbledon. the history. the people. i've never played on grass either, and there aren't any grass courts around here, but it's on my bucket list. i mean, if i actually had a bucket list.
my boys have never really been interested in tennis. despite taking group lessons last year. my girl, on the other hand, can hardly wait to get on the court. but yesterday Bubba watched a friend's son play tennis...and i think it inspired him. he played in our front yard and driveway all afternoon. then this morning, before my lesson, we hit the court to just hit a few balls.
he was terrible. isn't that terrible to say? but with some instruction, i really think he could be good! seriously. i was super encouraging today. so maybe he'll want to stick with it.
and get this: while typing this, sweet Bruiser just came and asked if he could go outside and hit some tennis balls. he's supposed to be relaxing before his baseball game tonight. but how can i say no to that??!?!
so here's my one issue with tennis: the tennis channel stinks.
like, really stinks. and i'm being nice with my wording here, folks. oh sure, it's fine while watching the majors. but their other programming stinks. i just suffered through a terrible show about their 10-year anniversary. ouch.
anyone have any connections there??? tell them to contact the nfl network for some tips. anybody watch the nfl network? it's amazing. they set the bar very high...but the tennis channel should take some tips.
here's suggestion number one: fire murphy jensen. you're welcome, tennis channel.
