wednesday's Word

"But no man can tame the tongue.  It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.  With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God.  Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing."  James 3:8-10

"For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.  A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him.  But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken.  For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned."  Matthew 12:34b-37

This is what is convicting me this week.  My tongue always gets me in trouble.  And, let's be perfectly honest, it always has.

I always have a lot to say.  But I don't always say a lot.  I'm learning to choose carefully.  I want my words, my actions to be pleasing to the Lord.  And I want my faith to shine in the darkness.

What's the Lord teaching you this week?
