let's catch up, shall we?

so it's been awhile.  let's catch up, m'kay?

*  i still feel disconnected from everything.  next summer my goal is to not really have any house projects or goals...just summer vacation.  less stress.  i also hope to not have everything fall apart on me in may like it did this year.  if i'm homeroom mom again, {i said IF....but apparently i've already been nominated} i'm enlisting a lot of recruits to help with everything in may.

*  i'm reading through the Bible chronologically.  the Lord is blessing me with the Old Testament right now.  it's been awhile since i've read through the OT, but i'm so glad i am! loving it.  love all the stories.  wow.  right?  wow.

*  a treat from my bruiser.  a heart shaped leaf.  seriously cute.  man i love that kid.

*  my man and i are leaving soon for our first ever {gasp!!!} trip away without kids!  well, since having kids.  we took trips before we had kids....obviously.  but it's been 8 years.  wow.  i mean....WOW.

*  i bought this to read on the plane.  is it weird that i'm reading a parenting book on a child-free trip???

anyone read this????

*  doh doh has been sick.  on monday the dr told me it was strep.  i disagreed.  and her test was negative.  so we've been waiting on the culture.  they just called.  it too was negative.  yes....momma knows.

*  i'm totally second guessing my get-away reading selection.  perhaps a good historical fiction love story?  those are my faves.  i read two on vacation.  any suggestions???

*  i'm currently in the process of teaching two momma's boys how to do things.  ON THEIR OWN.  being a mom, we do everything for our babies.  feed them.  change them.  cut up food into small pieces.  lie and tell their daddy that they were perfect angels all day so they can have ice cream after dinner.  BUT at some point they have to learn.  i'm an independent person.  always have been.  i'm trying to teach that to my kiddos.  it seems easier with the girl.  shh, don't tell the menfolk.  bubba is independent.  bruiser is not.  but they both are totally content to let me do stuff for them.  anyway, it's Independence Bootcamp around here.

*i built a table out of pallets for my deck.  i need to show pics.  i've applied primer so far, but these pics are from before that.  doh doh has claimed it as her own.

*  i'm getting a pedicure on friday.  oh my.  it's been so long.  so very long.  {name that maureen o'hara movie!!!!}  i'm so excited.  i decided since i was splurging i'd go all out.  i'm getting a mani too.  shhh, don't tell my man.  is it a wa$te when i get a mani but only have them do clear polish??

*  an international college student just came to the door selling books.  have i mentioned we're in the midst of an intense heat wave?  my boys opened the door without even asking me.  uh, yeah.  not good.  i'm.  ticked.  off.  and despite the verbal lashing i was gonna give them when i shut the door, i tried to be polite to the kid. but for crying out loud....i said no.  in fact, i said no a lot.  like, a lot a lot.  ugh.  i hate confrontation.

*  i'm slightly obsessed with the Olympics.  so i'm really excited for the London games.  we even watched the olympic trials.  since then bruiser has done nothing but somersaults. he just did 3 across the floor.  he also practices different swimming moves.  on the floor.   this weekend he's going to a swim meet to watch all his cousins compete.  if he drops to the ground and starts doing the butterfly i'll be sure to video it for you.

*  well, i could write more and more, but i'm gonna leave it at this.  i'm off to explain to my sweet bubba that it's 105 degrees outside.  his jeans and black stetson have to stay at home when we go to church tonight.  {hilarious}

  1. Have you read The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society? It's historical fiction and a great vacation read. Also, we had the same college group come around selling books. I think they come by in the summer because children will answer the door! After 10 minutes of saying no, then he asked for something to eat and drink. I feel horrible for anyone going door to door in 100 degree heat, but a snack? I had to draw the line.
